Market for packaging machinery
UCIMA reports that in 2024 the Italian packaging machinery market reached over €10 billion turnover for the first time ever. Total revenues reached €10.06 billion, marking a rise of 9% against the previous year.

Market for packaging adhesives
According to Smithers, the packaging industry will consume 7.20 million tonnes of adhesives in 2025. A forecast CAGR of 3.5% will push global consumption to 8.40 million tonnes in 2030. You can download an infographic after filling in your details.
Consumers and sustainability
An Ipsos survey (2.18 MB) commissioned by ClientEarth, shows that 80% of respondents in Poland and Germany, and 73-78% in the UK and France believe plastic products with recycling logos will be recycled if properly disposed of.
University of Bonn researchers led a study on sustainability label messaging using the EU organic green leaf logo as an example. The researchers added “BIO” or “ECO” inside the leaf. The modified labels were judged clearer, more understandable, more trustworthy, and more helpful than the original logo.
Participants in the a US survey by The Packer were asked to rank five sustainability attributes in order of importance when buying fresh produce. Biodegradable packaging was seen as the most important, followed by no packaging in second place, and water conservation practices in third place. Organic growing practices and biodegradable produce labels were tied for least important. You can download the survey after filling in your details.
Insect-based protein is a low-cost, eco-friendly alternative for supplying a nutrient the world needs — but that is not enough to make people reach for it, University of Alberta research suggests. Claims about health and sustainability were only marginally effective in persuading a test group of 548 Albertans to try or like a packaged cricket-based snack.
