France: Government publishes list of preferred environmental labels

04 February 2014

To help French consumers interpret an expanding array of ecolabels, the French Environment and Energy Management (ADEME) published a handy two-page pocket guide of the top 50 ecolabels. The graphics are organized under a number of headings, including food and drinks, hygiene and beauty products and cleaning and maintenance products.
ADEME says all of the featured ecolabels "meet specific environmental requirements and take into account the environmental impacts of the product throughout of its life cycle" and that they "are certified by an independent organization that ensures compliance with the criteria." (Recycling Laws International, 8 January 2014).
