Europe negotiates about regulation biological agriculture

02 December 2014

At the moment the negotiations about a new regulation for biological agriculture, to replace Regulation (EC) no. 834/2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products, are in process.
The position of The Netherlands in this discussion has already been determined. The Netherlands is against abrupt discontinuation of certain exceptions, because of the consequences for producers, wants the continuation of parallel agriculture (biological next to regular agriculture), and thinks the number of detailed rules that are imposed through delegated acts are disproportional. Secretary of State Dijksma is hoping to reach a compromise (Scherp in Waar en Wet, 11 November 2014).
