Research: influence of Bisphenol A on blood pressure

09 December 2014

The aim of a study published in the American Heart Association’s journal, Hypertension, was to determine whether increased BPA exposure from consumption of canned beverage actually affects blood pressure and heart rate variability. The study demonstrated that consuming canned beverage and consequent increase of BPA exposure increase blood pressure acutely. The study results spread fast through various media channels. A day after the study was published, Foodqualitynews.com published an article stating that: Findings that drinking or eating from cans lined with Bisphenol A (BPA) could raise blood pressure are “sensationalist”, according to the Center for Accountability in Science (CAS).
