AMERIPEN brochure ‘Reducing Fresh Food Waste: The Role of Packaging’

12 September 2014

Americans throw away 36 million tons of food each year. One defense against food waste is packaging. Not only does the right package contain and protect our food supply, it also maintains freshness and nutritional value. Plus, packaging provides critical storage and usage information while helping to control portion size, ensuring that the amount of food prepared is equal to the amount that will be eaten.
To help create a better understanding of packaging’s role in reducing food waste, the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN) has released a brochure entitled Reducing Fresh Food Waste: The Role of Packaging (Press Release AMERIPEN, 11 August 2014).
