VITO and OVAM to coordinate the European Topic Centre on Waste and Materials in a Green Economy

06 May 2014

In 2013 the European Environment Agency (EEA) launched a call for a new consortium for a European Topic Centre (ETC) in the area of waste and materials in a green economy.
The Flemish Research and Technology Organization VITO and the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM) have been chosen to coordinate the ETC that will work from July 1, 2014 to December 31, 2018. The main aim is to support sustainable development and to help improve the condition of the environment in Europe. The ETC will gather data from European waste and material statistics and surveys by member states, determine models and indicators, in order to enable the work of the EEA (Press Release VITO, 19 March 2014).
