Study: A more effective environmental policy by understanding human behaviour

25 March 2014

Human behaviour is at the centre of the effectiveness of many government regulations aiming to improve the environment. The Dutch Scientific Council on Living and Infrastructure RLI made an inventory of the knowledge in this field. In a report the researchers describe the boundary conditions this knowledge should be or could be applied.
The RLI elaborates on four different policy cases: sustainable mobility, energy saving measures at home, prevention of food waste and increasing the amount of household organic waste as a separate fraction. This research is also of importance to Packaging Return Incentive Schemes (PRIS), like deposit schemes for packaging.

Last month the NVC Members-only Environmental Regulations Guide (MERGE) was updated to include more information about deposit schemes. Please send an e-mail if you would like to receive the updated MERGE once a month (no costs involved).

This item is also included in our monthly overview, the NVC Members-only Update. If you have any questions, please contact us: info@nvc.nl, +31-(0)182-512411.
