SE Chemicals Agency: Mandatory reporting nanomaterials use

12 January 2016

On 1 December 2015, the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) called for companies doing business in Sweden to report separately on any nanomaterials in their products when they submit data to the national chemicals registry.
"Research has indicated that nanomaterials may pose hazards to health and the environment, but we currently lack sufficient knowledge on their use in the field," said Victor Bjorkegren, a KEMI manager focused on nanomaterials. "With a notification requirement, we would get better information about how much and which nanomaterials are used in Sweden." Along with the announcement, KEMI published a report on nanomaterials issues (Recycling Laws International, 7 December 2015).
