Developments in retail
According to Ecommerce Europe, the French e-commerce sector reached €146.9 billion in turnover for 2022, representing an increase of 13.8% compared to the previous year. These figures are the result of sales growth in the transport, tourism and leisure sectors, which have contributed to the significant increase in services sector sales (+36% over the last year and +50% compared to 2019). Online products sales fell by 7% compared to 2021, but still showed an increase of 33% compared to 2019.
Another report by Ecommerce Europe discusses cross-border e-commerce in the CEE region. The key findings of the survey reveal that almost 10% of participating businesses sell online only on marketplaces, without having their own ecommerce website. 13% of respondents have both ecommerce website and marketplaces as sales channels. According to a report (3.88 MB) by PLMA, private brand sales hit a new record in 2022, jumping 11.3% to $228.6 billion in all outlets in the U.S.
