Consultation launched on changes to Swiss law on risk reduction in chemical products

29 October 2014

On October 1, the Swiss Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) published draft amendments to the Ordinance on Risk Reduction related to Chemical Products and launched a public consultation. DETEC said the amendments are required to bring Swiss chemical regulations into harmony with European Union and other international requirements.
A list of banned persistent organic pollutants is contained in the draft amendments. The various prohibitions and restrictions would take effect at different times, all specified in the draft document. The public consultation closes on December 15 (Recycling Laws International, 3 October 2014).
