PET recycling in Ghana analysed

30 September 2016

On 7 September 2016 an NVC Study Meeting took place, based on the results of a field study addressing the opportunities for improving the recycling of PET bottles in Accra (Ghana). Five Master students Sustainable Business and Innovation of University Utrecht worked on this project together with the Institute of Packaging in Ghana IOPG. Their research was supported by NVC Netherlands Packaging Centre.
Via a case-study a holistic theoretical model (SANKOFA) was tested, in which three levels of factors influencing collaboration were identified (actor, network, institutional). The outcome could improve the collaboration within the PET recycling system of the Accra-Tema region.
