NL: Amount of quality marks growing – online quality mark database launched

02 May 2014

In the past one and a half years more than 90 sustainability quality marks have been introduced in the Netherlands. To throw some light on these marks, information service organisation Milieu Centraal has launched an online quality mark database containing more than 170 quality marks and logos.
Quality marks can help the consumer make a choice on what to buy. However, there are many quality marks that producers use that do not have a reliable control system. By using the database the sustainability characteristics of the marks on environmental friendliness, animal welfare, honest trade and the reliability of the control system can be compared (Press Release Milieu Centraal, 28 March 2014).
