NL: Report about Getting rid of waste published, a study about plastic packaging waste and the new role for municipalities

06 May 2014

In the Dutch Framework Agreement Packaging 2013-2022 it was agreed that municipalities will have more influence in the plastics chain. As of 2015 municipalities or municipal waste companies will be responsible for the sorting of the plastic packaging waste.
To gain more insight on how to adequately perform this role, the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) commissioned DRIFT (allied with Erasmus University Rotterdam) to perform a study about this transition in the plastics chain. The study has resulted in a report with recommendations for municipalities and collaborations to enhance the results and the efficiency in the field of waste collection (News Item VNG, 31 March 2014).
