NL: Stricter rules for e-cigarettes

22 December 2014

Dutch State Secretary Martin van Rijn (Health, Welfare and Sport) has tightened the regulations for e-cigarettes. The regulations now contain a number of specific requirements concerning safety, quality, labelling and advertising. The replacement cartridges, for example, must have a child safe closure and there must also be a clear warning about the addictive effects of nicotine.
The stricter rules were published in the Dutch Government Gazette on 28 November 2014 and will come into force on 1 February 2015. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority NVWA will start enforcing the rules as of this date (Press Release Government of the Netherlands, 28 November 2014).
