NL: Dutch Secretary of State Dijksma criticises EU Regulation on organic production and labelling of organic products

08 September 2014

Dutch Secretary of State Dijksma has proposed to adapt the current EU Regulation on organic production and labelling of organic products during the European Council of Agricultural Ministers on July 14th. It is expected to be reviewed in autumn, and the European Parliament aims to determine a general approach by the end of 2014 latest.
The proposal aims at improving the regulation on organic production by the removal of barriers that prevent sustainable development in organic production processes, ensuring fair competition and an efficient development of the internal market and maintaining and increasing consumer confidence in organic products (BioJournaal News Item, 18 July 2014).
