NL: Public campaign about dangers falsified medicines

31 May 2016

The Dutch ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport is launching a campaign to point out the dangers of falsified medicines to the public. Hundred thousands of people order prescription medicines online every now and then without having a prescription. In many of these cases, people unknowingly buy falsified medicines. The use of these can have a severe impact on their health.
The campaign is part of a broader and continuous policy against falsified medicines. It will become obligatory to use safety features on the packaging of prescription medicines. With these safety features the authenticity of the product can be demonstrated (Government of the Netherlands, 10 May 2016).
