NL: Draft packaging waste legislation sent to House of Representatives

03 June 2014

On 12 May 2014 state secretary Mansveld sent draft packaging waste legislation to the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer). For the materials plastic and wood higher recycling goals are included. The draft also includes the possibility to make separate collection of beverage cartons mandatory and setting a separate recycling goal. The articles referring to deposit systems have been deleted; however this does not mean that the deposit system for large PET-bottles will automatically be abolished.
On 15 May the draft legislation was published in the Dutch Government Gazette (Staatscourant), giving everyone the opportunity to comment during the 4 weeks after the date of publication.
