NL: Dutch government: interventions in meat supply chain to guarantee food safety

24 June 2014

The Dutch government has announced several interventions to address food safety throughout the meat supply chain. With these measures it applies recommendations made by the Safety Board that conducted research in the meat supply chain.
Previously responsible themselves, businesses now have to comply with the code of conduct developed in line with the Dutch Corporate Governance Code. In addition, there will be a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to fraud, public supervision and inspection is entirely covered by public responsibility and special attention is paid to the separation of inspection and supervision (News Release Government of the Netherlands, 10 June 2014).
