NL: IoT and big challenges for machine builders

04 March 2016

In a new report ABN AMRO suggests that the distinguishing features of products will have an increasingly shorter lifespan because of fast copying, which forces product manufacturers to continuously adjust their prices. Because consumers are becoming more changeable and demanding, manufacturers of consumer products have to produce in a more flexible way.
They want machine builders to make production machines that are tuned to their situation. These should also be capable of producing different types of products to make it possible for producers to effectively and efficiently react to the demand of the consumer. This can only be achieved by designing machines in a modular way.
