NL: Collecting beverage cartons has rapidly become normal

27 October 2016

Since the compensation for the collection was introduced in 2015, 343 of the 390 municipalities in the Netherlands have started separate collection of beverage cartons. The amount of beverage cartons that is collected often exceeds the expectations of the municipalities. Most municipalities think the amount of collected beverage cartons will increase in the next few years. This means the collection of beverage cartons has become customary in a short period. This is shown by a survey of the HEDRA Foundation. A quarter of the respondents indicates that the amount collected is higher than expected. Almost half of them (48%) says the amount is as expected (Press Release HEDRA, 5 October 2016).
