NL: Shelf life after opening on pack of OTC medicinal products

01 November 2016

In response to an investigation by the Dutch Consumers’ Association in 2015 the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) of the Netherlands wants manufacturers of over-the-counter medicinal products to list the shelf life after opening on the packaging.
According to European legislation it is not always necessary to list the shelf life after opening on the packaging. In order to ensure that medicines are used properly, the MEB considers it important that this does happen. In the new rules the MEB therefore asks manufacturers always to list the shelf life after opening on the packaging of resealable over-the-counter medicinal products (News Item MEB, 30 September 2016).
