NL: Many replacement cartridges for e-cigarettes do not have danger warning ‘poisonous’

02 May 2014

Almost 70% of the pre-filled replacement cartridges for e-cigarettes and shisha-pens containing nicotine do not display the danger warning ‘poisonous’ on their label. This symbol with the skull is mandatory on 108 of the 151 cartridges studied. This means that consumers are not getting enough warning about the contents and the dangers of using the product, the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) states.
The majority of the replacement cartridges has child-safe packaging. The pre-filled replacement cartridges containing more than 1% of nicotine that were not child-safe have been taken of the market (News Item NVWA, 15 April 2014).
