Most Dutch citizens want to also collect drink cartons

02 May 2016

Over two thirds of the Dutch citizens wants to separately collect drink cartons next to the glass, paper, and plastic they are already collecting. This is shown in research by SAMR. Most Dutch citizens can already do this in their municipality. Almost 85% of the municipalities have a system for separately collecting drink cartons.
Even though the motivation for collecting drink cartons is high, the familiarity with this relatively new waste stream is limited. Four out of ten people are unaware of the fact their municipality provides this opportunity. Most people also do not know that the whole drink carton, including the cap, can be recycled (News Item HEDRA, 31 March 2016).
