Croatia: New waste management law takes effect

On February 21, 2014 Croatia’s new Law on Sustainable Waste Management took effect. The new law covers recycling and waste disposal, permitting, record keeping, regulation of processors and transporting and related subjects.
Articles 5 through 9 of the law cover requirements for waste processing facilities, waste collection and transport vehicles, conducting inspections of waste, and requirements for storage facilities. Articles 10 and11 address the scrap business. Articles 13 through 16 set minimum requirements for recycling facilities (i.e., collection locations). Article 17 sets similar requirements for mobile recycling facilities (Recycling Laws International, 28 February 2014).
