Ireland: Final report on review of Producer Responsibilty Initiative Model published

The Irish Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government has announced the publication of the final report of the review of the Producer Responsibility Initiative model in Ireland. He has also announced a further period of consultation on the report which will run until mid- September 2014.
The reports key finding is that the producer responsibility model in Ireland has operated successfully and has succeeded in meeting the majority of the domestic and European waste targets. The principal producer responsibility initiatives operating in Ireland are WEEE, batteries, packaging, tyres, end of life vehicles and farm plastics (News Release Government of Ireland, 4 July 2014).
