France sends Order to European Commission establishing end-of-waste criteria for shredded wood from packaging, prior to its use as biomass fuel

France has sent an Order to the European Commission establishing end-of-waste criteria for shredded wood from packaging, prior to its use as biomass fuel. The standstill period ends on 27 June 2014.
This Order covers waste wood from packaging that has already been subject to a recycling procedure involving sorting and shredding, and that meets the other criteria imposed by the Order, may cease to be waste in order to be used as an additional fuel in all types of combustion plant. Wood from packaging may take the form of plain pallets, painted or unpainted, pallet boxes and other wooden load boards, cases, boxes, crates, cylinders and similar wooden packaging, or wooden drums.
