Proposed Brazilian law would require health warning on packaging of mobile devices

03 March 2014

A bill, addressing the possible link between electromagnetic radiation and cancer, is handed to the Brazilian Camera for review. It seeks to draw attention to the possible carcinogenic character of electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones.
In case the bill gets accepted, the following warning message is required on all packaging containing mobile devices: ‘The inappropriate use of this equipment may cause harmful health effects. Before using the device, check the instruction manual’. The AgĂȘncia Nacional de Telecom would be responsible for ensuring mobile phone manufacturers comply with the regulation (Recycling Laws International, 7 February 2014).
