Active paper packaging incorporated with ginger

16 February 2016

Researchers at Sebelas Maret University in Indonesia developed active paper packaging incorporated with ginger pulp oleoresin. They evaluated physical characteristics (thickness, tensile strength, and folding endurance, moisture content), sensory characteristics and antimicrobial activity of the paper.
They found that active paper with ginger pulp oleoresin reduced tensile strength, folding endurance and sensory characteristic (color, texture and overall) and increased antibacterial activity but antifungal activity decreased. An article about the research is published in the IOP Conf. Series: Materials Science and Engineering: 10th Joint Conference on Chemistry.
