Shoppers of the future

26 November 2015

A GfK white paper describes a research performed in ten countries, in which 7,000 young shoppers (between 16-21) were asked how they see shopping in the future. Young shoppers expect to shop in-store more in the future, yet wish to be able to choose where they shop, on- or offline. The young shoppers find shopping to be a social activity, for which the physical retail store is a crucial ingredient.
Retailers will need to focus on offering an in-store experience, as to differentiate themselves. This differentiation is also possible in the form of meeting customer expectations, such as providing more opportunities for personalisation, innovative technologies and improved delivery services.
