NL: ‘Green’ innovation policy necessary to maintain competitive position

15 October 2013

If the Netherlands wants to maintain its competitive position in the world economy then the Netherlands needs to invest in ‘green’ innovation. This is one of the conclusions of a report published by the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency.
Recently the Netherlands dropped on the international competition ladder. The Netherlands is lagging behind in the field of ‘green’ innovation. Also the Dutch economy and export are strongly dependant on sectors that use a lot of energy and materials. This makes the country vulnerable if the raw material prices increase (Press Release PBL, 7 October 2013).
