NL: Answer to EC consultation on waste policy sent to House of Representatives

23 October 2013

The Dutch State Secretary from the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment has sent an answer to the European Commissions consultation on waste policy to the House of Representatives. In the accompanying letter she mentions a number of important issues. She states, for example, that lacking and/or vague definitions in the directives lead to different interpretations in different Member States. She also states that monitoring, validation, calculation and reporting is carried out differently in Member States. Another issue mentioned is that stimulating prevention, reuse and recycling should be preferred above a ban on landfill and/or incineration.
