Is online education good or bad?

30 March 2015

This question is addressed in a review by prof. Eric Fredericksen at the World economic Forum in 2015. Extensive research makes him conclude, that online learning can be effective – but that alone is not a guarantee that it actually will be effective. It is not predetermined that online education is better (or worse) than a physical classroom.
The best way to develop truly effective online courses is the systematic design of instruction with emphasis on the achievement of course learning objectives. The spirit of “blended” or “hybrid” online courses strives to capture the best of online with the best of traditional classroom experiences and ultimately these differences will blur.
