Information to consumers about gluten in Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011

05 December 2013

Regulation (EC) No 41/2009 contains the European requirements for informing consumers about the absence or reduced presence of gluten in food. On 20 July 2016 Regulation (EC) No 41/2009 will be repealed. In order to make sure that adequate information about the absence of gluten will still be given after 20 July 2016, a change has been made to article 36 of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 through Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1155/2013 amending Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the provision of food information to consumers as regards information on the absence or reduced presence of gluten in food (News item OpMaat WAAR&WET, 29 November 2013).
