NVC Innovation project Web Retail Packaging
Web Retail Packaging (WRP) is the packaging of products that are ordered and delivered on-line, directly at the consumer's home or via a collection point. WRP is an essential factor for the further stable growth of e-commerce, especially where physical products are concerned. What does the future of WRP look like and which packaging aspects constitute risks or opportunities? These questions are central to this NVC innovation project.
The basis for the project is the international NVC Working Group Web Retail Packaging, in which retailers, manufacturers and suppliers of packaging and related services work together for the sustainable growth of web shopping. The Working Group meets plenary 'physically' once a year. Other (sub) meetings take place per web-co. Participation is exclusively for NVC member companies and by invitation. The next meeting is Friday 20 September 2019 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The NVC Position Paper 'Packaging as driver for the sustained future of e-commerce' was published on 2 October 2014 on the basis of all project activities up to that moment. Click here to download the NVC Position Paper.
On 28 November 2017, the 1st International Conference on Web Retail Packaging was organized, with presentations from Alibaba group, IKEA, PostNL Parcels, Neopost Technologies and Artificial Intelligence expert company Fizyr.
