Dutch House of Representatives wants to lower REACH burden

23 April 2015

On the initiative of Remco Dijkstra (VVD) the Dutch House of Representatives has accepted a motion which urges the costs of complying with REACH to be lowered even further for all companies. With this proposal the House takes the matter a step further than State Secretary Wilma Mansveld of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. She recently sent a report to the House with 23 proposals to improve REACH.
Because REACH is based on European environmental law the Netherlands cannot execute all solutions autonomously. To achieve this agreements have to be made in Brussels with the European Commission and the other member states (News item engineersonline.nl, 13 April 2015).
