Transatlantic trade and investment partnership US and EU: negotiating mandate made public

31 October 2014

The Council of the European Union has decided to declassify the negotiating directives for a transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) with the United States. Seven negotiating rounds have been held, the latest in Washington from 29 September to 3 October.
The objective of the TTIP is to increase trade and investment between the EU and the US by realising the untapped potential of a transatlantic market place, generating new economic opportunities for the creation of jobs and growth through increased market access and greater regulatory compatibility and setting the path for global standards (Press Release Council, 9 October 2014).
