NL: What consumers think about ending the deposit system

04 May 2015

At this moment there are two systems for collecting and recycling plastic packaging waste in the Netherlands: the Plastic Heroes system (130 kiloton a year) and the deposit system (26 kiloton a year). TNS NIPO performed a survey for the Dutch Packaging Waste Fund (Afvalfonds) to find out what the consumer thinks of ending the deposit scheme.
Most of the respondents find it important that plastic packaging waste is recycled. Seven out of ten consumers indicated that they did not mind which system was used to recycle plastic packaging waste. 46% of the respondents is positive about integrating the deposit system in the Plastic Heroes system.
