NL: Packaging Waste Fund publishes new rates for 2016

01 September 2015

The Packaging Waste Management Contribution (PWMC) that companies pay to the Packaging Waste Fund (Afvalfonds) covers the costs of implementing the Packaging Agreement. The recycling of beverage cartons has developed rapidly with separate collection taking place in more than half of the Dutch municipalities. The volume of recycled plastic packaging has also increased. This means that the processing costs for both materials have increased considerably and, as of 1 January 2016, the rates will be higher.
The rates for the other materials will be slightly lower because the costs for the system are lower than estimated (Newsletter Packaging Waste Fund, 21 July 2015).
