NL: Strong growth for home-delivery of food

03 February 2015

The home delivery market for food in The Netherlands has doubled over the past years and a consistent strong growth is forecasted as well. The market is more than €1 billion per annum now and about 1% of the supermarket sales are home-delivered.
These results are provided in research by Food Service Institute (FSIN) and GfK. FSIN defines three main market segments in home-delivery of food: food service delivery, dinners for elderly people, and delivery of food products. About 3% of the consumers account for 55% of total online sales. The Top-10 delivery concepts are identified as well. The supermarkets are losing market share to specialised food delivery methods.
