LT: New label for deposit on disposable beverage containers

31 August 2015

The Lithuanian Minister of Environment has approved a new label for the deposit scheme on disposable beverage containers. The deposit scheme on disposable beverage containers will be launched from 1 February 2016. From the same date, the sign will have to be on alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages placed on the domestic market in single-use sales packaging larger than 0.1 litre but smaller than 3 litres.
Glass, plastic or metal containers bearing this sign are intended for recycling. Customers will pay a fixed deposit on the packaging. The deposit will be refunded as customers return empty packaging (News Item Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, 3 July 2015).
