EU calls for WTO comments on revision of Regulation 10/2011

26 June 2015

The European Commission has submitted the text of a forthcoming revision of Regulation 10/2011 to the World Trade Organization’s Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO-TBT) programme.
The commission expects to adopt the revised law in December 2015. The new law will add several new substances to the positive list given in Annex I of the EU’s regulation of plastic food contact materials and articles. At the same time the proposed amendment will change the specific migration limits (SMLs) from food contact materials for three metals, and in the third element addresses the status of rubber components under this legislation (Food Contact World Digest, 2 June 2015).
