Distributors e-commerce to change selling model

27 October 2015

The traditional business model of industrial distributors must adapt to the changing market conditions, says the UPS Industrial Buying Dynamics Study. This study, conducted with 719 purchasing professionals in France, Germany, Italy and the UK, reports increase of both direct-from-manufacturer purchases and B2B e-commerce expectations forcing distributors to adapt their selling model.
Key findings include the fact that 65% of industrial customers are bypassing distributors, and that an additional 30% are currently considering to purchase DfM. The report also shows that 50% of this sector are sourcing and buying online, of which 42% do more than half of their purchasing online (Press Release UPS, 15 October 2015).
