Beverage industry sector guidance for greenhouse gas emissions reporting published

In an effort to better understand greenhouse gas emissions associated with the beverage industry and to establish a common methodology for estimation, tracking and reporting, the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) has released a document entitled Beverage Industry Sector Guidance for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting. BIER brings together global leaders in the beverage industry. In this guidance reporting within each beverage category has been harmonised, including beer, wine, spirits, carbonated soft drinks, juices and bottled water. There is also agreement on how to approach shared issues like production and use of packaging materials (News Release BIER, 20 January 2014).
