DK: Adverse effects of nanomaterials on human health limited

01 December 2015

After considering five reports on the possible effects of nanomaterials on human health and the environment, the Danish Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has concluded that any adverse effects are likely "very limited."
The reports examined nanomaterials in sunscreen products, textiles and clothing, and aerosol spray products. They concluded that human skin is an effective barrier to nanomaterials entering the human body. While spray products containing nanomaterials "can be problematic if there is poor ventilation," according to the agency, it acknowledged that the same caution can be applied to most aerosol spray products (State Recycling Laws Update, 16 November 2015).
