Colombia: Pesticide packaging EPR resolution issued by government

11 February 2014

The Colombian Ministry of Environment has published Resolution 1675, which calls for establishing an extended producer responsibility (EPR) for consumer pesticides and packaging. Producers and importers must submit their plans to the Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (ANLA) within the next six months.
The resolution bans the landfill disposal or littering of pesticides and their packaging or the use of recovered material for food contact applications or use in toys. Consumers are responsible for separating pesticides and pesticide packaging from other waste and delivering the material to approved collection locations (Recycling Laws International, 24 January 2014).
