07 November 2013

The New South Wales Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a Draft NSW Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy (WARR) that would take effect this year and continue through 2021.The strategy identifies six key result areas to drive down waste disposal, improve resource recovery and support investment in recycling infrastructure.
The areas are: avoid and reduce waste generation; increase recycling; divert more waste from landfill and manage problem wastes better. The other two areas in the draft WARR strategy address litter reduction and illegal dumping. A public consultation on the Draft is open until December 16 (Recycling Laws International, 28 October 2013).
