AE: New medicine packaging to help visually impaired patients

01 December 2015

A solution regarding the concerns of health authorities, the medical community and even families regarding patient adherence to medicines and medications has been introduced in the United Arab Emirates. Prof Tawfik Al Khoja hailed the novel pack that incorporates four features which primarily assist the visually-impaired, among other individuals, who face difficulties in taking their medicines.
The four features are Braille Calligraphy, QR Code, Medicine In-Take Chart, and the 2D Data Matrix Technology or Coding. So far Sanofi has 10 of its products for chronic diseases-afflicted patients, approved by the MoH, already available in the market (The Gulf Today, 29 November 2015).
