Pharmaceutical Packaging Innovation
By participating in this project you can share innovative solutions with other parties from the supply chain in order to come to improvements or new applications together.
Within the project there is close cooperation between suppliers of packaging, materials and equipment, and the producers of pharmaceutical products and medical appliances.
During the project meetings we discuss the developments in packaging pharmaceutical products. The main themes in the project are accessible design, authenticity and improving patient adherence. The next meeting of the NVC International Working Group Pharmaceutical Packaging Innovation takes place on 12 June 2020.
Accessible design in packaging is designing packaged products and their packages in such a way that the product is as accessible as possible for as many users as possible. This covers subjects like ease-of-opening, readability of texts on packaging and patient information leaflets, and child safe senior friendly packaging.
The makes medicines safer by providing measures to verify their authenticity and improve the quality of their ingredients. Together we examine the various ways in which we can prevent falsification of medicines, like serialisation and anti-tampering devices.
Improving patient adherence
One of the biggest challenges in the pharmaceutical world is improving patient adherence. Packaging can make a significant contribution to patient adherence. Related to this theme, NVC runs the secretariat of HCPC Europe.
As part of the Pharmaceutical Packaging Innovation project we partner with organisers of international exhibitions and conferences, like UBM (Innopack, CPhI Worldwide) and the China National Pharmaceutical Packaging Association.
