Social media: the effect of sharing and unboxing packaging

Two reports by Dotcom Distribution, a premier provider of logistics and fulfilment services, focus on the importance of social media and state that 40% of shoppers share their purchases online, in which packaging plays a big role in the consumers posting behaviour.
54% of the reports’ respondents claimed to use social media for aid during the pre-purchase decision making, of which 61% said that this research convinced them to make a purchase. Leading social media websites are Facebook (84%), Twitter (32%) and Instagram (31%). Watching an “unboxing” video was found to be helpful for 36% of consumers, and 40% are more likely to recommend a product to a friend if branded packaging is used.
