Slovakia: Draft decree on packaging waste sent to EC

25 September 2015

Slovakia has sent a draft decree to the European Commission concerning the responsibility of producers of specified products and management of specified waste streams. The standstill period ends on 6 November 2015.
The draft decree lays down detailed rules concerning the waste management mechanism established under the newly adopted act on waste, which is based on the consistent application of the principle of extended responsibility of producers of specified products who can perform their obligations either individually or through authorised organisations dedicated to this purpose. The decree is drafted to transpose Article 16 of Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste.
